Enoplognatha ovata  (THERIDIIDAE)

Enoplognatha ovata

This is another common species across Europe, which can have three colour forms. The version illustrated has a pale yellow-green abdomen. The other variants have either two red stripes on each side or a wider broad red band, respectively, on an otherwise similarly coloured abdomen.
The photograph shows a female Enoplognatha ovata that has caught a shield bug, which she is in the process of wrapping in silk.
